Document Summary
Main aim _ to investigate the link between eyewitness testimony and leading questions . Participants were required to watch clips of car crash and were then asked some questions about the incident. The critical question was about how fast were the cars going when they hit each other?"the participants were split into five groups and each group was asked the same leading question but with a new verb each time. Examples included contacted, collided, bumped, smashed and hit. 31. 80 miles per hour was the main speed estimate for the verb contacted. 40. 50 miles per hour was the main speed estimate for the verb smashed. In conclusion the leading question biased the eyewitness of an event. Weakness 1: a weakness of research into the the influence of misleading information on the accuracy of eyewitness testimony is the lack of realism. Having participants watch a film of car accidents is an artificial task.
