Document Summary
Basic learning concepts and classical condiioning (module 21) Psychologists define learning as, the process of acquiring through experience new information or behaviors. By learning we can adapt to the environment. Learn to expect and prepare for events (classical conditioning) Typically repeat actions that results in rewards, avoid acts that brings unwanted results (operant conditioning) Learn new behaviors by observing events and others. We learn things we have neither experienced nor observed (cognitive learning) Locke and hume concluded that we learn from association. Brain naturally connects events that happen in a sequence. If you see and smell a freshly baked bread and you eat it and its satisfying, next time you smell or see fresh bread, expect if you eat it again it"ll be satisfying again. If you associated a sound with a frightening consequence, next time hearing the sound alone may trigger your fear. On average the behaviors became habitual after 66 days.
