Avoid drinking when light + noise are presented. Cs connected to cr is a learned relationship; a learned association. Group b: s presented with light + noise (cs) + x-ray (ucs) while s is drinking water. Result---when presented with light + noise alone s continued drinking. No association learned between light + noise and illness. No connection between the cs and ucs and illness is made. Group c: s presented with tasty cue in water (cs) + x-ray (ucs) made. Result---when presented with tasty cue (cs) in water s stops drinking (cr).
