Instrumental aggression: aggression in which on inflicts harm in order to obtain something of value. People who kill others in self defense, or to gain money or attention are motivated by instrumental aggression. Aggressive acts include acts where there was an intention to harm, even when there was no actual harm. Conceptual difference between these two perspectives is that bandura focuses on the outcomes of behavior while scherer take a more cognitive motivational approach focusing on the intention of the perpetrator.
