Perception (as interpretive process) can be influenced by many factors: Integration of multiple senses is the norm in perceptual experience. Synesthesia- a condition in which perceptual or cognitive activities (ex. Listening to music, reading) trigger exceptional experiences (eg. of colour, taste) *may experience cognitive benefits derived from the experience ex. Sensation- the a bsorption of energy, such as light or sound waves, by sensory organs, such as the ears and eyes. Perception involves organizing and translating sensory input into something meaningful. Psychophysics: psychophysics-study of how physical stimuli are translated into psychological experience. People(cid:859)s se(cid:374)siti(cid:448)it(cid:455) to diffe(cid:396)e(cid:374)(cid:272)es between stimuli just noticeable difference (jnd)= the smallest difference in the amount of stimulation that a specific sense can detect. Weber"s law- the size of a just noticeable difference is a constant proportion of the size of the initial stimulus.
