Several considerations of tests appeal, theory, ease of administration, scoring, interpretation etc. Thurstone inspired other theorists to explore components of intelligence. Stanford-binet: first published intelligence test to provide organized + detailed administration and scoring instructions, first test to employ concept of iq, first test to introduce alternate item. Alternate item: item to be substituted for a regular item under specified conditions. Lewis terman collaborated with maude merrill to revise test, gave it more validity + reliability, but still had previous problems. Major innovation was deviation iq , another revision. Ratio iq: ratio of testtakers mental age divided by his or her chronological age multiplied by 100. Deviation iq: comparison of the performance of the individual with the performance of others of the same age in the standardization sample. Was previously as age scale, 4th edition is a point scale. Point scale: test organized into subtests by category of item.
