Unipolar depression is a disorder in which people only experience depression. Bipolar is where people experience both depressive and manic states. Endogenous depression is a response to internal factors. Biological: genetic: family, twin, adoption and molecular biological studies. May be tied to genes and chromosomes (5-htt) o. Norepinephrine and serotonin (low activity of two neurotransmitters) Stress leads to poor functioning of immune system. Lower lymphocyte activity, increased crp (c-reactive protein), body inflammation in depressed people.
