Another example of cultural learning can be seen in chimpanzees. Culture is evident not only in other primate species, which are our closest animal relatives. Elephants, too, appear to engage in cultural learning. A culture of aggressive elephants was thus formed, and this culture has been passed down through a number of generations. However, it is not just in the most intelligent species that we see evidence for cultural learning. For example, pigeons appear to learn specific food acquisition strategies from other pigeons. Humans, then, are not unique in being able to engage in cultural learning. Many species of animals have been shown to be able to learn cultural information, none of the nonhuman species seem to be very good at it. For example, although the japanese macaques were able to learn imo"s technique of washing potatoes, they didn"t learn it very well. Many aspects of human cultures are shared by nearly every member.
