Gender is constructed as a fact of nature and manhood as assumed to be unchanging, transhistorical essence constituting to of died naturally occurring traits. To study history of manhood is to unmask the process and study historical ways different ideologies about manhood develop, change and are combined amended, contested and gain the status of truth.
