The labour process- the quest for efficiency and control: maintaining control over the structure and processes of work has always been important for capitalist owners and managers. From craftwork to the factory: in earlier times, employees were scarce and employers had close, personal relationships with their workers. This change not only affected work experiences but also ways of life. Fines were faced for simple things such as lateness and talking: employers hired women and children as they viewed them as more manageable and vulnerable. This did not take place to skilled craftsmen because it was too difficult to replace them. The labour process and control: eventually the role of the superior became more specialized. Their primary job was to patrol the factory to enforce the rules: henry ford was the mastermind behind developing a sold system of control.
