Children possessed less visible and less powerful in the society, they constructed childhood as they investigated the journey to adulthood. The author mentions that in western society, childhood is a completion of schooling. However, some childhood ends with early marriage, so they can step beyond to the age of majority. Researchers have used different sources to explain the concept of childhood. Such as use primary sources to obverse real children"s daily life and they also use the advent of printing to discover what is the relationship between children and childhood. Phillipe aries, there is materials are hidden in the pictures, so it has limited view on children. They have seen children as miniature adult, and it affects the perceptual of children. The author also mentions other researchers by using personal documents that mainly used autobiographies and diaries. Using contextual knowledge to examine the impact of new media on childhood.
