For over 30 years indian lms, their stars and fashions, music and stories have been a dominant part of everyday popular culture in northern nigeria. Hausa youth explore the limits of accepted hausa attitudes to love and sexuality through the narratives of indian lm and hausa love stories. Our experiences and now experiences we relate to through media imagined reality. Hausa youth rework indian lms within their own culture by adopting indian fashions buh as headscarves or jewellery or indian actresses. Indian lms have created a communal mode of address, a we-ness of common cultural and national concerts that account for their appeal but which is largely a ctional a country as large and diverse as india. Men in indian lms often dress in long kaftans, similar to the hausa dog riga, over which they wear long waistcoats, much like hausa palmaran.
