Document Summary

When andreas says that photography is always staging, she is telling us that staging is a characteristic of photography in itself. As someone who finds herself in between the thin line of being the discoverer, as well as the inventor, i couldn"t agree more with her stance. Photography seems to be nothing more than concretized seeing, and seeing is believing. Whether you are acting perceptually and extracting something from the scenery; or acting conceptually and placing something into the scenery, you are still creating history by directing an image. As andreas further elaborates, the scope of photographic staging is larger than it is generally conceived. To see it as a genre or tendency only objectifies the photographic experience to a purist ideology and negates all other factors involved in the picture taking process. Hence, staging should be seen as a strategic photographic orientation, with no boundaries between the discovered or the invented, but rather a continuum .
