Sex is more important than life itself. No male contribution, each lizard is basically a clone of the mother. Man studying fish reproduction noticed asexual fish reproducers had higher loads of parasites despite living in the same environment, side by side, as sexual reproducing fish of the same species. These fish have stopped evolving, making them easier targets for parasites. The sexually reproducing fish are different combinations of their parents genes so the parasites can"t invade them as easily. The asexually reproducing fish are exact copies of each other, so the parasites already know how to invade their bodies. The pools dried up and all the fish died. Hope saw that the parasites were targeting sexually reproducing fish and the asexual clones were doing well. The sexual reproducing fish started inbreeding due to lack of available genetic variability, making them more populous than the asexual fish. Since they outnumbered the asexual fish, the parasites targeted them.
