Continually affected by social changes around you: butterfly effect: far-ranging or even global impact of a small change in a specific location, over both time and distance. Generally physical phenomena, also applies to social. The changing nature of the social world- and sociology. During industrial age sociologists concentrated on factories, the production of the place, and who worked there. Sociology is a field that constantly must be involved in studying changes. Sociologist concerns- inequality of poor, racial/ethnic groups, women, gays/lesbians. Public sociology: sociological work addressed to a wide range of audiences, most of which are outside the academy, including a variety of local, national, and global groups. No social change is as important as globalization b/c it is continually affecting all aspects of the social world everywhere on the globe.
