People define conflict as a disagreement resulting from individuals or groups that differ in opinions, attitudes, beliefs, needs, values, or perceptions. Most conflicts are caused by one s interests or values are challenged, or because their needs are not met. The main ingredients or sources of conflict include desires, needs, perceptions, power, values, and feelings. There are many causes of conflict in the workplace; lack of communication, feelings of being undervalued, undefined roles, poor use of managerial criticism, preferential treatment, poor leadership, stress, personality differences. Conflict can appear to be with another person when at its center, it is not.
