Solar system: a system consisting of the sun, the planets and their moons, and countless objects including rocky asteroids and icy comets. Planet: a moderately large object that orbits a star. Moon: an object that orbits a planet. Asteroid: a relatively small and rocky object that orbits a star. Non-spherical because small and gravit not strong enough to compress material into a sphere. Comet: a relatively small and icy object orbiting a star. Have only tails when they come close to sun. Solar system: a star and all the material that it orbits, including its planets and moons.
