A message is the package of information transported during communication. When people share these packages , the result is a transaction of information: communication occurs in a seemingly endless variety of contexts, or situations, people communicate through various channels. Studying communication: a brief history of communication, communication in antiquity, one of the earliest books ever written the maxims of the egyptian sage. Ptahhotep (2200bce) encourages people to be kind, truthful and tolerant in their communication. He also encourages to practice active listening: almost 2000 later, rhetoric appeared. Rhetoric is the theory and practice of persuading others through speech, and it was often practiced by greek and roman philosophers such as plato and socrates. He also outlined five requirements of speech crafting and presentation: invention, arrangement, style, memory, and delivery: communication in early 20th century. In the 1900s, stimulated by philosophical thinking, scholars began studying forms of communication other than rhetoric.
