Campaigns are more expensive with communication, media and staffing costs. Interest groups that are tax exempt cant provide contributions, but almost all organizations that aren"t tax exempt corporations, unions, can donate during election cycles. Corporations and unions cant donate directly to candidates they can create their own political action committees pac they work toward electing a candidate and favor political agenda. Individual donors aren"t bound by aggregate limits and can give to as many candidates as they want but must comply with candidate pac.
