He was perfectly aware of the bomb"s capability to wipe out entire cities. After authorizing the bombs, he wrote in his diary i have told the sec. of war, mr. Stimson, to use it so that military objectives and soldiers and sailors are the target and not omen and children. The target will be a pure military one. this was contradictory since he was aware of the outcomes of the bombs. Elizabeth anscombe, a student at oxford university wrote a controversial pamphlet arguing that britain should not go to war because countries in war always end up using unjust means. She criticized artificial birth control and rallied against abortion. She crossed paths with truman as he was being awarded an honorary degree by oxford. University as a thankful gesture for america"s wartime help.
