Edema: accumulation of fluid (usually in extremities like in feet) If you have insufficient protein, this pressure is impaired and so fluid does not go back into the blood stream as efficiently, and u accumulate fluid in the tissues-> causes the swelling. Anergy: can lead to immune competence-> increases susceptibility to disease. When you lack carbohydrates, your glycogen stores class, brain calls for glucose and liver cannot provide it. When blood glucose levels drop, body calls for my glucose from glycogen. If it wants additional glucose it will call into proteins proteins get digested into.
