Levels of chlorophyll based on the lsu lake system. Chlorophyll is present in all plant organisms, so it can be used as a relative value for autotrophic concentrations within the lakes, and other aquatic systems. In this experiment, data was collected from the four different lakes at lsu, and the chlorophyll levels were compared to the values gathered over different years and seasons. My hypothesis is that the level of light intensity is a determining factor in the level of the production of chlorophyll. Specifically, as the light level increases, the production of chlorophyll increases. Chlorophyll is the molecule that absorbs sunlight and photosynthesizes it into energy for the plant system. (may, 1) this molecule is present in all plant species, and also the green algae species chlamydomonas.
