Document Summary
Social exchange theory is a theory that is formed from the amount of rewards and cost received in a relationship. In this theory, rewards are anything that brings satisfaction from the relationship, and costs are the things that can hinder or hurt somebody in the relationship. I use social exchange theory in all of my relationships. A personal example would be at my work. I was trained by this girl when i started the job. I put in a lot of effort into my training. I asked lots of questions and gave it my best shot. I had invested so much of my time into training and she gave me all of her responsibilities because of it. She expected me to do her job for her, since i was so good at my job. This led to me easing up on my workload and if she did not do her job, that was on her.
