You will read and write essays with a variety of rhetorical aims, focusing primarily on research, analysis, and composing from sources. You will also be introduced to the formal conventions of academic research. You will write four essays (including the final project) of varied scope. On each of these major assignments, you will receive a letter grade, which equates to point values as follows: a = 95; a-- = 92; b + = 88; b = 85; b. - = 82; c + = 78; c = 75; c-- = 72; d + = 68; d = 65; d-- = 62; f = 55.
