Document Summary

From 1750-1850, a new revolution stuck the world. This revolution was not a political one, although it would lead to many changes as it runs its course. The industrial revolution changed the ways by how the world produced its goods. This was the boom of factories and machine-made items instead of the agricultural, hand- made life so many people in society had been living. It changed the agricultural society to one in which industry and manufacturing was in control. The industrial revolution first got its start in great britian, during the 18th century, which at the time was the most powerful empire on the planet. Born to a working-class family in 1856 in irealand, george bernard shaw came of age within an intellectual setting struggling with the devastating effects of capitalism, which emerged simultaneously with the industrial revolution. Shaw had always wanted to be a writer, but it was his political ideas that shaped most of his writings.
