HIST 2057 Chapter : History 2057 SYLLABUS

Office hours (himes 317): tuesday, 12-1; thursday, 12-1 and 3-4; by appointment. Officer hours (himes 315): wednesdays, 11-2; by appointment. History 2057 is meant to provide students with a general overview of u. s. history from the conclusion of the civil war through the present. During the semester, we will look at some of the major political, economic, and cultural changes that have taken place in the united states during that time period. Additionally, we will look at the role the u. s. has played in international history and how that role has transformed over time. While we cannot reasonably cover every important issue in american history in a single semester, we will attempt to address a wide range of topics. Students are encouraged to think about lectures, readings, and class discussions in relation to these questions. Three books will be required for this section of history 2057.
