Elections of 1876 and end of reconstruction: sam tillburn-- anti radical and rutherford hayes-- defender of radicals, can"t agree so a committee is set up of 15 in congress. Hayes is president: angry democrats threaten congress. Their property is no longer theirs and the whites will rule. Laws, unfair voting, no education, etc: 1890s plessy v. ferguson, la enforced the separate-but- equal doctrine.
