Repetition: repeating a style or graphic element throughout the entire piece, unifies and strengthens piece by tying together separate parts, purpose is to organize, unify and add visual interest. Contrast: if two items are not exactly the same, make them different, for contrast to be effective, it must be strong, purpose is to organize and add visual interest.
