Choline is then transported back into the presynaptic neuron through reuptake. Basal forebrain acetylcholine system--- goes to the amygdala and cingulate cortex. Ach is the nt of the neuromuscular junction (these receptors are nicotinic) Receptors: nicotinic- they are ionotropic nicotine being the prototypical agonist, it depolarizes the cell by allowing na+ and ca+ into the cell, muscarinic- they are metabotropic. M1 m3 m5 linked to the gq form the g protein activates the plc pathway.
