Wishes for omniscience and omnipotence must be attached to concrete things which can materialize (vs. narcissistic thinking: guilt autonomy: jealous rage; keeping rivals out (esp. younger siblings) Initiative: anticipatory rivalry with those who were there first and who have superior equipment. Inevitable failure leads to guilt and anxiety. Stage of fear for life and limb (castration fear) Conviction that child or drive as such is essentially bad. Worth depends on doing vs. who you are as individual. Conscience: dependence on self which makes us in turn dependable, superego: organ of tradition, sense of responsibility, share obligation; discovery; perform vs. power.
