What is a Front?
• Relatively narrow boundaries (Fig. 9.1) characterized by low
pressure that mark the transition zone between air masses of
differing:
o Densities
▪ Thermal properties (T)
▪ Moisture properties (Td)
• Five Major Front Types:
o Warm Front
o Cold Front
o Stationary Front
o Occluded Front
o Dry Lines
