You should also know the general treatment goal of each perspective: Biological perspective: states that abnormalities in the body are associated with symptoms of psychological disorders, psychological disorders are seen as illnesses, with symptoms that may be behavioral, emotional, or cognitive, sometimes referred to as the "medical model" Behavioral perspective: concentrates wholly on behaviors and environmental factors, behaviorists believe that all behavior is learned (through conditioning or modeling, maladaptive/dysfunctional behavior is caused by faulty learning experiences. Cognitive perspective: psych disorders are a product of disturbed thinking. Illogical thoughts or faulty attitudes can produce painful or dysfunctional emotions and behaviors: clinicians must ask questions about the client"s cognitions, assumptions, attitudes, and thoughts related to the dysfunction.
