Document Summary
There was a study done by macdonald and martineau that measured the effect of female college students" mood of having unprotected sexual intercourse. The participants were put into a bad mood by thinking negative thoughts, which helps to measure their mood. The researchers wanted to see if mood and self-esteem were related to students with intentions of having unprotected sexual intercourse. One way to measure self-esteem would be the rosenberg self-esteem scale. Macdonald and martineau used this on the participants. The participants had a 4-point rating scale that they followed, such as strongly agree, agree, disagree, and strong disagree. The participants had to answer to statements like i am able to do things as well as most other people . The overall score that the participants had was the total points the participants had. In science, measurements are often used to get scores that represents certain characteristic for individuals.
