Document Summary
Prologue: whole deal with question on whether porn causes sexual violence or sexually violent tendencies cause people to watch porn cause and effect and problems with it. Hindsight bias: tendency to over exaggerate saying they knew something would happen based on a prediction in retrospect, everything seems as though it could have been predicted. Research designs: observational method: looks at nature of phenomena, correlational: predicts if x (known variable) then is y (prediction being made), experimental: looks at causality (specific reasons for certain things) You observe people, record measurements/impressions of behavior. Ethnography: observing from the inside without any pre-conceived notions. Limitations: o(cid:271)se(cid:396)(cid:448)atio(cid:374)s do(cid:374)(cid:859)t a(cid:374)s(cid:449)e(cid:396) the (cid:395)uestio(cid:374) of (cid:858)(cid:449)h(cid:455)(cid:859) Some things are harder to observe as they are rare occurrences or private matters. Limited samples for some less generalizable.
