Document Summary
Cognition - how we think: cognition change - not observable. Emotion - how we feel: emotional change - not observable. Behavior - how we act: behavior change - observable, elements. Hypothetical process: it cannot be directly observed, only through actions and behavior can we assume learning has taken place. Kind of like a record track of the brain. Stimulus: contacts a sensory organ - produces a physiological or psychological response, types. Distal: external stimulus of the real world. !1: exist even if they don"t affect you, examples: light overhead, sound of cars passing, smells, texture etc. Proximal: stimulus that makes contact with the sensory organ, actually affect people, example: light striking the eye, sound entering the ear. Sensation versus preception: sensation: physical energy acting on a sense organ (skin pressure, auditory tones, etc. ) Aka proximal stimulus: perception: interpretation of sensory input (identifying, nearly melody, etc. ) May be limited and distorted: cannot say perception is a window into the real world.
