Document Summary

Long-term memory (ltm) - system that is responsible for storing information for long periods of time. "archive" of information abut past events in our lives and knowledge we have learned. It stretches from just a few moments ago to as far bas we can remember. Serial position curve - created by presenting a list of words to a participant, one after another. After the last word, participants writes down all the words he or she remembers, in any order. Memory is better for word at the beginning of the list and at the end of the list than for words in the middle. Primary effect - finding that participants are more likely to remember words presented at the beginning of a sequence. Participants had time to rehearse the words at the beginning of the sequence and transfer them to ltm.
