15 views2 pages

Document Summary

Decades of psychological research and other fields demonstrate that the human mind can process visual representations such as diagrams much more easily than numerical rows can perceive. These same experiments however also indicate that the capacity of the human mind to perceive visual images has some limits and that certain images convey more detail than others. The aim of this chapter is to introduce some of the more common types of data visualization and show when each form is suitable. Microsoft excel is an all-encompassing platform for business visualization of basic data. Computer tools like excel allow the development of several common examples of data visualization for everyone. However, the default tables and charts for excel, as mentioned in this chapter, can be updated to improve clarification. New software forms dedicated to data visualization have recently emerged. In this chapter, we are concentrating our techniques on excel, but also mentioning some of these more sophisticated data visualization software packages.
