Trend of men saying that women are disadvantaged but refusing to acknowledge that men are advantaged. Same thing happens with white privilege, where white people are taught about racism, but not about their own privilege. Author made a list of things she can count on that others might not, like protecting children from those who want to hurt them and turn on tv to see people of her race. There is a difference between unearned privilege conferred systematically and earned strength. Many people can see that there are race disadvantages but don"t want to change it because it would lower themselves. The united states not only needs white people to change their opinions, but to take action to lower their own standing. Human differences are complete opposites of each other, and the purpose of society is profit rather than human need. It is the responsibility of the oppressed to teach the oppressors their mistakes, which the oppressors have no responsibility.
