Field research => qualitative data: which is data that can"t be boiled down to numbers, field research can generate theory as well. Induction and deduction is used heavily in field research. Special: may require deception in order to have questions answered be reliable and valid, reactivity: ppl being studied know they are being studied so their behavior is modified, participant-observer effect, hawthorne effect. Researchers can gain a comprehensive perspective from field research. Field research is well suited for studying social processes over time: as well as studying attitudes and behaviors in their natural environment, the questions we want answered determine the methods we should use. Field research is great for studying life in its natural environment: can also study things that can"t easily be seen or measured.
