Document Summary

Private grosz: grosz was an infantry soldier during wwi. He never liked it and never identified with it-didn"t like war in general: recounts that there was support for the war in the beginning but then that ended. People started seeing the realities of war but some were still enthusiastic: grosz really didn"t like this war and being yelled at and just being another number. I guess he started drawing a bunch of soldiers and a bunch of the sort of harsh realities of the war. The way that the text makes it seem is that he"s drawing sort of caricatures. He did all of his art in his own little studio that he had in berlin that he sort of decorated by himself with different things. He didn"t have very expensive furniture but it was where he lived. He loved this period of time that he was away from the war.
