Every group function is covered by a qualified member who is playing a specific role. This is the process of enhancing the capabilities and influence of individuals and groups. The first dimension - group potency - shared belief that they can be effective as a team. The second dimension - meaningfulness - team"s perception that its tasks are important, valuable, and worthwhile. The third dimension - autonomy - degree to which team members experience substantial freedom, independence, and discretion in their line of work. The fourth dimension - impact - degree of significance given by those outside of the team to the work produced by the team. When participation in decision making is a sham, empowerment is then thwarted.
