The rich and powerful always tend to capitalize off of the less fortunate. The word anthropology comes from anthropos ( human ) and logos ( thought , reason , or study ). As colonization, communication, trade, and travel expanded, europeans became more curious about foreign cultures. Applied anthropology- working outside of academic settings to apply the strategies and insights directly to real-world problems. Anthropologists start with people and their local communities. Bring often-ignored voices into the global conversation. Anthropology has a history of focusing on the cultures and struggles of non-western and non-elite people. Anthropologists study people and the structures of power. Study both the people and the larger structures of power around them. Families, governments, economic systems, educational institutions, militaries, the media, and religions, as well as race, ethnicity, gender, class, and sexuality.
