Attracted to those whose presence is rewarding to us. Ex. when they give us interest/ approval > we are gratified by attention/ acceptance; physically pleasing features. Subtle; not always aware of; merely associated with someone else. Ex. if they resemble ourselves; same first initial; those who offer benefits to our potential offspring. Clear connection between physical proximity and interpersonal attraction. Up the chances two people will cross paths often. Repeated contact with (or mere exposure to) someone usually increases our liking for them. Tend to like people whose faces we recognize more than those who are unfamiliar. College women attend classes either 15, 10 ,or 5 times during a semester. Ask other (real) students about the women. Results: students were attracted to the ones that visited 15 times as opposed to 5. The information we gain from interactions affects our attraction. Ex. may learn a person is mean after the 5th time talking to them.
