Worked as manager in family food business. 2 daughters: 18 mons and 4 yrs. Sustained depressed mood and lack of energy, difficulties in concentrating, decreased interest, w/drawl from activities he usually enjoyed. Hard to get up in the morning for work. Experienced depression his last year of college. What he would do as a career after college. Followed by dramatic symptoms manic episode, symptoms of abnormally and persistently elevated mood, hyperactivity and decreased need for sleep. Bizarre and risky activity increase sexual desire. Arrested when police found him w/ 15 yr old girl no permanent charges. Taken to hospital and diagnosed w/ manic episode 6 weeks gradually accepted medications treated w/ drugs depakote, divalproex, haldol. Forced to transfer and complete his degree another university. Shunned by his friends and family was disturbed. Have brief periods of depression from time to time none of them long or severe enough to cause buddy to obtain treatment.
