Idea requires that all children suspected of having a disability receive a nondiscriminatory mfe. Not just provide information on the existence of a disability for determining eligibility for special education. Evaluation reports also provide information about the child"s educational needs and how to meet them. Conducted by a school-based multidisciplinary evaluation team, sometimes called a student study team. Regardless of referral source, the parents must be notified of the school"s intent to test their child, and they must give their consent for the evaluation. Within 60 days of consent, the school district must complete the evaluation. If the evaluation team determines that a child has a disability that is adversely affecting his or her educational performance, an iep is developed.
