Women were said to have the lowest position that involved them just working on plantations instead of being able to join the army or work in factories. They would act as puppets, tools of satisfaction to the whites during this period of. African american women stood up, testified of their sufferings, thus reversing the hierarchy between white men and freedwomen. Due to the poor management of these freedwomen, they received less of a chance to be offered more opportunities. We also seem to notice the clash happening between the whites and blacks, rioting such as the memphis riot, resulting in even more conflict between blacks and the union soldiers.
