PPE 3003 Chapter Notes - Chapter 2: Inferiority Complex
Document Summary
Those who have any physical/organ inferiority will deal with some psychological difficulties. He believes that this inferiority causes the children to have lowered self- esteem, but they will notice this and compensate with self-assertion. Because the body has an inferiority, the organism makes up for that through the psyche. The individual compensates or over-compensates certain aspects of life, and s/he also forms a value of him/herself in comparison to the others around him. It can be seen to a great extent. We constantly compare ourselves to others even after childhood, and when we feel inferior, we compensate for that by trying to be better than them, do something more impressive than them, and be more successful. The idea of an inferiority of organs affecting the psyche can be projected to other human weaknesses. One explanation that i have seen is the upbringing of certain individuals.
