9. 1 the nature of small groups and teams. Small group- a collection of individuals who are connected to one another by some common purpose, are interdependent, have some degree of organization among them, and see themselves as a group. Virtual groups-serve both relationship and social purposes; can be social or professional. Group members may feel pressure to agree with the majority opinion (groupthink)--> can deteriorate the experience. Opening- when you become comfortable with your groups, engage in small talk. Feedforward- to identify what needs to be done, who will do it (making a to do list)/ agenda. Feedback- reflect on what has to be done/ what still needs to be done. Closing- ending the session, ending of the group. Round table- arrange themselves in a circle, informal interaction, seminar circle. Panel- group members are expert but participate informally without any set speaking pattern, sitting in front of the audience. Symposium- each member delivers a prepared presentation.
