Document Summary

This video and discussion touched on several things that i have learned in other classes. Pinker and language and i thought it was presented in a very clear and unique way. One part that stood out to me is the discussion of the use of the word literally . So many people i know, myself included, are sometimes guilty of way over using that word in inappropriate contexts. We do not always think about the meaning of what we are saying. I also enjoyed pinker"s discussion of hedging and his talk about how people use superfluous definitions and descriptions in order to bolster what they are saying. I learned about these concepts in my cognitive psychology class and seeing all of the examples he portrayed makes it more clear.
