To find the possibility of individual with aabbccdd genotype, look at each gene individually. Chance of aa is 1/2 x 1/2 = 1/4; chance of bb is 1/4; chance of cc is 1/2; chance of dd is 1/2. To find possibility of individual with dominant a, c, d and recessive b trait. Cc cc/ dd dd is all 1/4+ 1/2 = 3/4; chance of bb is 1/4. Limitations: mendel"s laws will not tell us what happens in one individual. If the trait is rare in the population, the allele giving rise to the trait should also be rare --> most likely hypothesis requires that the fewest genetically unrelated people carry the allele.
